Obverse: the obverse of the coin has a pedestal of the Asoka lion in the center. Underneath the pedestal is an inscription indicating the country of origin and the denomination 'भारत INDIA' and 'रूपये 10 RUPEES'.
Reverse: the reverse of the coin shows the sun with a lotus flower floating underneath and grains of wheat beside it. The reverse also bears the inscription '1970 FOOD FOR ALL सब के लिए अन्न' and the mintmark.
